Album with photographs of Joseph Thomas Clover (1825-1882) British surgeon and pioneer anaesthetist, together with photographs of his wife, children and other family members.

The album went probably to his son, Martin Clover, for who it seemingly was compiled as some of the photographs bear his name at the back.

I would like to thank Christine Ball, anaesthetist at Melbourne for her help in identifying some of the sitters and to apply me with more background information on Joseph Thomas Clover.
Please find below a couple of links to her publications.

A website about Joseph Thomas Clover.

A post from 2017 on the site of the Geoffrey Kaye museum titled "Why did the British anaesthetist, Joseph Clover (1825-1882), have bank accounts in New Zealand ?".
