George Ward Hunt (1825-1877).
British politician and statesman, Secretary to the Treasury , Chancellor of the Exchequer and First Lord of the Admiralty.

The tradition that, when a Chancellor leaves for the house of Commons on Budget day, he shows the people the Red Box - was started when Hurt discovered that he left the Red Box with the speech at home.

Size ab. 7 3/4 x 5 &/8 inches (photo) and 13,5 x 10,5 inches (mount).

Condition is good/very good with some mild scuffing and a period retouch.
Original is a bit more sepia toned (scan shows a bit too brown).
Mount with some soiling, light pressure marks; light visible spots/stains and at left upper corner cardboard layer split (no damage).
